Guadalupe half marathon replaces Fields to Fair 10-mile run

A race by any other name would still be fun to run. It's a good thing, too, because the annual Fields to Fair run is now the Guadalupe Half Marathon and 10K Walk.
Both the run and walk will be held on a flat, fast course along the Santa Maria River levee, adjacent to farm fields. Registration starts at 7 a.m. at 1050 Peralta St., across from Mary Buren Elementary School in Guadalupe.
Entry fees for the half marathon are $35 for an adult, and $15 for children age 18 and younger. Fees for the 10K walk are $15 per walker, whatever their age. But walkers will have to get going a little earlier--their race starts at 8 a.m. and the half marathon starts at 9.
The entry fee for the run and the walk includes breakfast and awards after the run, and proceeds benefit the Guadalupe Sports Hall of Fame, Inc. youth programs. For more information, contact race director Stephanie Krouse at 714-5798 or e-mail her at sa_krouse@hotmail.com.
Sports Shorts is compiled by Sports Editor Sarah E. Thien. Information should be sent to the Sun via fax, e-mail, or mail.
